- (I) Turkey has one of the richest floras of any
temperate country on earth. (II) Along with its
rich flora, it also has a wide diversity of habitats.
(III) However the unique flora and habitats of
Turkey are being threatened and have declined
rapidly over the last 40 years. (IV) Rare
sensitive habitats such as grasslands and old
growth forests are under immense threat and
declining fast. (V) In addition there is high
genetic diversity in the populations found in
Turkey.
