library is accomplished through an amazingly
efficient system developed by Melvil Dewey, an
American librarian. (II) In the dewey system,
every nonfiction book receives a number, (III)
The number, which is written on the back of the
book, is determined by the particular
classification of the book in the system, (IV)
There are ten subject classifications, and any
nonfiction book can be fitted into one of them.
(V) So you can find out whether or not the
library owns a certain book by looking it up in
the card catalogue
