You are in charge of a team of scientists doing fieldwork in the mountains. However, your
work has often been hampered by the wet weather, and you are worried that it may not be
finished on time. As this cannot be permitted, you say to your team members:

Since the weather has been so bad, I don't think it is wise to carry on with our work.

Due to the adverse weather conditions, I am afraid we are behind schedule; we'll have to make a
much bigger effort.

Despite the bad weather the work goes forward as planned.

Given the weather conditions we have had so far, it is comforting to know that we have done a lot
of work.

Even though the weather has always been unsettled, it has affected our work very little.
