You have recently been to a conference where you listened to a paper given by someone
who used to be in your department. You were disappointed with the quality of the paper and
really thought there was nothing to comment on it. On your return, when the colleagues asked
about it, you replied:

His papers gave rise to a great deal of heated discussion, which shows that some people must
have been impressed by it.

The paper he presented was inconclusive, but certain parts were quite stimulating.

For the most part of his views were outdated, but he had researched the subject thoroughly.

It was an average soft of paper, but there were some fresh insight into the subject.

His paper was full of repetitions and lacked all originality.
